When it comes to snowshoeing in Lake Tahoe, it’s important to dress appropriately. The snowy conditions can be chilly, so you want to make sure you’re dressed warmly. Start with a base layer that’s moisture-wicking to keep you dry and comfortable. Avoid cotton as it can retain moisture and make you feel cold. Instead, opt for synthetic or wool materials. Layer up with a warm mid-layer, such as a fleece or down jacket, and then top it off with a waterproof and windproof outer layer. This will protect you from the elements and keep you warm and dry. Don’t forget about your extremities! Wear warm gloves or mittens, a beanie or hat, and warm socks to keep your hands, head, and feet warm. And last but not least, wear appropriate footwear. Snowshoeing boots are recommended, as they provide good traction and keep your feet warm and dry.
So, whether you’re renting snowshoes from Tahoe Snowshoe Tours or hitting the trails on your own, make sure you’re dressed appropriately for the conditions. With the right gear, you can enjoy the snowy wonderland of Lake Tahoe in comfort and style. And if you’re going on your own, DIY Tahoe Wilderness Snowshoeing, don’t forget to rent an avalanche beacon, probe and shovel for each person in your party! Finally, don’t forget to wear sunglasses designed for winter sports to protect your eyes from the bright sunshine reflecting off the snow. Look for sunglasses with polarized lenses that will reduce glare and enhance your visibility on the snowy trails. Make sure they fit well, so they don’t slip down your nose while you’re snowshoeing.
So, before you hit the trails in Lake Tahoe, dress appropriately for the conditions, and make sure you have a good pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes and enhance your winter sports experience. And if you’re renting snowshoes in Tahoe, consider renting from Tahoe Snowshoe Tours for a safe, sustainable and guided professional photo safari experience through the stunning winter wonderland of Lake Tahoe.

“If you’re going to do one thing, schedule a snowshoe tour through this company! My boyfriend and I had never been snowshoeing and I was nervous beforehand. Dave called us the evening prior to be sure we were well prepared as it had snowed a lot the day before. The instruction we were given made it so easy to find the meeting location. Dave had all the gear we needed and made it a very easy experience. The route we took was beautiful and gave us the best views. Dave is experienced and knowledgeable which is what made our experience so great. He knows the area but took us up at our pace which I was thankful for! We were so pleased with our experience and I am sure anyone that goes snowshoeing with this company will have a great time! Dave also takes FABULOUS photos which we love! I was breathing too heavy to document much but he sent us all the photos he took which were awesome. So thankful for this trip and the memories! Thanks, Dave!”
