Are you tired of waiting in lift lines that seem longer than the Great Wall of China at Lake Tahoe ski resorts? Fear not, my fellow snow bunnies, for I have found the perfect solution: a snowshoe tour. But first, let’s talk about some of the best intermediate ski trails that Tahoe has to offer. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a newbie looking to take your skills to the next level, these trails are sure to please.
- First up is the Big Dipper at Northstar. This trail is a crowd favorite for a reason. With a steady incline and wide turns, you can really let loose and enjoy the ride. Plus, the views of the surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking. Just be sure to watch out for any pesky snowboarders who might be trying to cut you off!
- Next on our list is the Ridge Run at Heavenly. This trail is perfect for those who love a challenge but aren’t quite ready for the black diamond slopes. With plenty of twists and turns, you’ll need to be on your toes (or should I say, skis?) at all times. But don’t worry, the stunning views of Lake Tahoe will be sure to distract you from any nerves.
- If you’re looking for a trail that will really get your heart racing, look no further than Squaw Valley’s Red Dog. With steep drops and tight turns, this trail is not for the faint of heart. But for those who dare to conquer it, the feeling of accomplishment is worth it. Plus, the après ski options at Squaw Valley are some of the best around.
- Last but not least, we have Kirkwood’s Olympic. This trail is perfect for those who love a good challenge but want to take it slow and steady. The wide open spaces and gradual inclines make it easy to take your time and really savor the moment.

“If you’re going to do one thing, schedule a snowshoe tour through this company! My boyfriend and I had never been snowshoeing and I was nervous beforehand. Dave called us the evening prior to be sure we were well prepared as it had snowed a lot the day before. The instruction we were given made it so easy to find the meeting location. Dave had all the gear we needed and made it a very easy experience. The route we took was beautiful and gave us the best views. Dave is experienced and knowledgeable which is what made our experience so great. He knows the area but took us up at our pace which I was thankful for! We were so pleased with our experience and I am sure anyone that goes snowshoeing with this company will have a great time! Dave also takes FABULOUS photos which we love! I was breathing too heavy to document much but he sent us all the photos he took which were awesome. So thankful for this trip and the memories! Thanks, Dave!”
