Are you a dog lover looking for a new winter activity to enjoy with your furry best friend? Look no further than snowshoeing with a Tahoe Snowshoe Tours naturalist and your dogs!
That’s right, you don’t have to leave your four-legged friend at home when you go on a snowshoeing adventure. Many Tahoe Snowshoe Tours allow you to bring your dogs along for the ride, adding an extra level of fun and excitement to your outdoor excursion.
But before you hit the trails, make sure your dog is up for the challenge. Snowshoeing can be physically demanding, so it’s important to make sure your dog is in good health and has the energy to keep up with you. And don’t forget to pack some water and snacks for both you and your pup, as well as some booties to protect their paws from the cold and snow.
Once you and your furry companion are all geared up, it’s time to meet your Tahoe Snowshoe Tours naturalist guide and hit the trails. Your guide will lead you through the snow-covered forest, pointing out interesting features of the local ecology and history. And with your dog by your side, you’ll feel an extra sense of joy and camaraderie as you explore the winter wonderland together.
As you make your way up the mountain, your dog will be having the time of their life, bounding through the snow and sniffing out interesting scents. And if you’re lucky, you may even spot some local wildlife, such as deer or elk. Just make sure to keep your dog on a leash to prevent them from chasing after any critters.
As you climb higher and higher, you’ll feel your heart rate rise and your muscles working. Snowshoeing is a great form of exercise, providing a low-impact, full-body workout that will leave you feeling energized and invigorated. And with your dog by your side, you’ll have the added motivation to keep pushing yourself and exploring the trails.
Finally, you’ll reach the scenic overlook, and it will take your breath away. The panoramic views of the snow-covered mountains and forests are absolutely stunning, and you and your dog will feel like you’re on top of the world. Your naturalist guide will point out interesting features of the landscape, and you’ll have plenty of time to take in the views, snap some photos, and just enjoy the peaceful serenity of the mountains with your furry friend.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. On the way back down the mountain, you and your dog can let loose and enjoy some snowshoe running, racing down the slopes like a pair of champions. And when you get back to the trailhead, you’ll both be tired but happy, with memories that will last a lifetime.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your dog and sign up for a snowshoeing tour with a Tahoe Snowshoe Tours naturalist. You’ll laugh, learn, and experience the magic of winter in Tahoe in a way that you and your furry companion will never forget. And who knows, you may even discover a new passion for outdoor adventures with your dog by your side.
But before you go, here are a few tips to make sure you and your dog have the best possible snowshoeing experience:
- Make sure your dog is in good health and has the energy to keep up with you. Snowshoeing can be physically demanding, so it’s important to make sure your dog is up for the challenge.

“If you’re going to do one thing, schedule a snowshoe tour through this company! My boyfriend and I had never been snowshoeing and I was nervous beforehand. Dave called us the evening prior to be sure we were well prepared as it had snowed a lot the day before. The instruction we were given made it so easy to find the meeting location. Dave had all the gear we needed and made it a very easy experience. The route we took was beautiful and gave us the best views. Dave is experienced and knowledgeable which is what made our experience so great. He knows the area but took us up at our pace which I was thankful for! We were so pleased with our experience and I am sure anyone that goes snowshoeing with this company will have a great time! Dave also takes FABULOUS photos which we love! I was breathing too heavy to document much but he sent us all the photos he took which were awesome. So thankful for this trip and the memories! Thanks, Dave!”
