Tips for Your Tahoe Snowshoeing Adventure with a Naturalist Professional Photographer!
Before embarking on your Tahoe snowshoeing adventure, there are a few things to keep in mind. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your experience:
- Dress warmly or wear a bikini: Tahoe winters can be chilly, so make sure to dress in layers and wear warm, waterproof boots. If bikini, then be sure to have the thigh high fur trimmed boots.
- Don’t bring a heavy expensive camera: Your guide is a Naturalist Professional Photographer with 15 Macaws and three dogs at home to feed and it’s totally worth it so order the Pro Photo package and he’ll send you stunning photos later that day. PROTIP: The bears steal guest cameras and sell them on e-Bay.
- Listen to your guide or at least act interested: Your naturalist guide and professional photographer is an expert in the area and can provide you with valuable insights and tips about snow bunnies in the wild.
- Try to have fun -at least a little fun. Ironically, snowshoeing is a fun and unique way to experience Tahoe’s winter wonderland, so try to relax and at least act like you are enjoying the adventure! Please note that some guides are sometimes very sensitive and suffer from fun performance anxiety.

“If you’re going to do one thing, schedule a snowshoe tour through this company! My boyfriend and I had never been snowshoeing and I was nervous beforehand. Dave called us the evening prior to be sure we were well prepared as it had snowed a lot the day before. The instruction we were given made it so easy to find the meeting location. Dave had all the gear we needed and made it a very easy experience. The route we took was beautiful and gave us the best views. Dave is experienced and knowledgeable which is what made our experience so great. He knows the area but took us up at our pace which I was thankful for! We were so pleased with our experience and I am sure anyone that goes snowshoeing with this company will have a great time! Dave also takes FABULOUS photos which we love! I was breathing too heavy to document much but he sent us all the photos he took which were awesome. So thankful for this trip and the memories! Thanks, Dave!”
